Regulation of steviol glycosides Based on the positive safety assessments of steviol glycosides by different food safety authorities, the Codex Alimentarius Commission, an international organization responsible for setting food standards, is now formulating regulations on the use of steviol glycosides as sweeteners. So far, steviol glycosides have been approved for use in China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Australia and New Zealand.
